Trails

The City of Calhoun Recreation Department Park features four well-maintained trails and paved exercise paths ranging from 0.8 to 2.5 miles. These trails, suitable for walking, running, and cycling, encircle 125 acres of recreational space and provide a peaceful environment for outdoor exercise and leisure activities. The paths are open daily, from dawn to dusk, which include the blue, green, orange, and red trails.

The New Town Nature Creek Loop Trail at New Echota State Historic Site offers an easy walk through history and nature. As the starting point of the Trail of Tears, the site features original and reconstructed buildings. The trail leads to New Town Creek and a beaver pond, making it ideal for birding, hiking, and quiet strolls. Leashed dogs are welcome.

Harold “Ooky” Faith Memorial Park Loop is located at Harold “Ooky” Faith Memorial Park in Calhoun, GA. The spacious, ten-acre park on Bellwood Road consists of a 1.5-mile lighted asphalt loop trail around a pond with two gazebos, a fenced playground, and parking.

Resaca Battlefield State Historic Site offers over 4 miles of scenic walking trails across 483 acres. Popular for birding, hiking, and running, the park’s three trails provide a mix of exploration and quiet solitude. The White Trail connects the two loop trails—head north to access the Blue Trail or south to reach the Red Trail. Both loops offer diverse landscapes and historic significance. Trails are open every day. Dogs are welcome, with some off-leash areas available.

Winding through diverse terrain, the Salacoa Creek Park Nature Trail is a 1-mile loop with gentle slopes, flat sections, and scenic bridges. Timber ties mark the path, with some steeper areas requiring caution. Stunning fall colors make it a favorite for hikers and runners. The trail is easily accessible from Salacoa Camp Rd or the campground parking lot, and dogs are permitted, with some off-leash areas available.

Funded by the employees of Gordon Hospital, Gordon Hospital Foundation, and community partner Northwest Georgia Paving, the CREATION Life Wellness Walk is a beautifully landscaped walking trail designed to provide enjoyment and recreation for Gordon Hospital employees and the community. This well-maintained trail features exercise stations throughout and is open for community use during daylight hours.
