One of the most significant Cherokee Indian sites in the nation, where the infamous “Trail of Tears” officially began and home of the first Indian language newspaper office. Visitors can tour 12 original and reconstructed buildings, including the Council House, Court House, Print Shop, Missionary Samuel Worcester's home, and an 1805 store; view interpretive exhibits and a 17-minute film. Nature trails lead visitors to New Town Creek and a small beaver pond. Open Tuesday - Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. & Sundays, April - October, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Admission: $5.50-$7.00.
