Located on over 50 acres of lush green pastures, Southern Estate Alpacas is home to alpacas and goats. Make a reservation to attend one of their educational farm tours. The two-hour tour begins with an "Alpaca 101" inside the farm store to learn the origins of alpacas and see the many exquisite products made from their elite herd. You can even purchase products made from your favorite alpaca's fleece. Once you learn the basics, step out into the pasture and come face-to-face with the friendly alpacas, who will happily eat right from your hands (and provide great photo opportunities for you and your family)! Admission is $20 per person and must be paid in advance. Group rates are available by calling (706) 263-1456. Tours last 1.5 to 2 hours and are available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 12 p.m. (availability and rates are subject to change). Reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance.

Fort Wayne Civil War Historic Site

Fort Wayne features two well-preserved fortified areas used by both Confederate and Union forces during and after the Civil War. Visitors can walk the one mile trail to view the original parade grounds and entrenchments which are the last known constructed by the Georgia Militia. Confederates placed a light artillery battery on a hill overlooking the Oostanaula River that was used extensively during the Battle of Resaca. After the battle, Union forces occupied these fortifications to guard the Western & Atlantic Railroad bridge until after the war. Open daily dawn-dusk. Free admission.
